3rd Annual Baldwin Wallace Double Reed Day

The 糖心视频 Conservatory of Performing Arts is pleased to present the 3rd Annual 糖心视频 Double Reed Day. The event is open to beginners, junior high, high school and college oboe and bassoon students. Double reed enthusiasts, teachers, professionals and music directors are all welcome.

This year's guest artists, (Principal oboe with the Cleveland Orchestra) and Andrew Brady (Principal bassoon with the and ), are renowned for their artistry and teaching expertise.

The day of masterclasses begins with a Faculty and Guest Artist Recital and culminates with a large Double Reed Ensemble performance featuring all participants.

The registration fee includes a boxed lunch, a Double Reed Day T-shirt, as well as access to all master classes, exhibits and performances. All participants are eligible to win prizes and will receive swag bags from our sponsors.

  • 11:00 a.m. Registration & Exhibits Open
    Lobby,  & Gamble Auditorium Lobby,  
  • 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Faculty and Guest Artist Recital
    Gamble Auditorium,  - Open to the Public

  • 12:30–1:15 p.m. Boxed Lunch
    Pick up lunch in the Lobby of  & dine in Kadel Family Vocal Music Hall.
    Exhibits Open – Gamble Auditorium Lobby, 

  • 1:30–2:20 p.m. High School Masterclasses
    • Oboe with Johanna Cox Pennington – Fynette Kulas Music Hall,
    • Bassoon with Thomas English – Fynes Hall, 

  • 2:30–3:20 p.m. Reed-Making Classes (Split by instrument and High School/College focus)
    • High School Oboe with Johanna Cox Pennington – Fynette Kulas Music Hall,
    • High School Bassoon with Thomas English – Kulas Hall, 
    • College Oboe with Frank Rosenwein – Gamble Auditorium, 
    • College Bassoon with Andrew Brady – Fynes Hall, 
  • 3:30–4:30 p.m. College Masterclasses
    • Oboes with Frank Rosenwein – Gamble Auditorium,  (All oboe participants seated on stage)
    • Bassoons with Andrew Brady– Fynes Hall,  (All bassoon participants in Fynes Hall)

  • 4:45–5:15 p.m. Double Reed Ensemble Rehearsal, Brendan Caldwell conducting
    Fynette Kulas Music Hall,

  • 5:30–6:00 p.m. Double Reed Ensemble Performance + Prizes and giveaways for participants
    Gamble Auditorium,
